This conference isn’t a “leadership conference.” There are plenty of those.
This one is about… following!
Depending on translation, at the most, “leader” is only used six times in the entire New Testament. The word “servant”? Over two hundred times. There are endless titles in Christian books about leadership, but how many about followership? Jesus calls us again and again to “Follow me!”
That’s what this conference is about: How to be a follower of Jesus. An apprentice of Jesus. A disciple. (That word, “disciple”, is in the New Testament 269 times. The word “Christian” appears three times. This is what Jesus is looking for: Students, learning his ways.)
And his ways are the best way to live. After all, Jesus is a genius. He knows how to live. He, above all, knows how we are made, and how we thrive. His way of living is the best way for us to experience real peace, and an enduring sense of well-being, regardless of circumstances.
The way of Jesus is not impossible. He shows and tells us how to do it.
This conference, all while being joyful and completely fun-loving, will be immediately practical to anyone who wants to follow Jesus, whether a longtime believer or someone brand new to the faith.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT THE CONFERENCE?
Anyone who knows Brant and Sherri will know this: This won’t be a highly polished event, designed to impress people.
Brant will speak several times through the weekend, while Sherri “emcees” and does her thing. It will be focused on how to follow Jesus by:
Loving our enemies.
Practicing radical forgiveness.
Praying for those who drive us crazy.
Living without worry and anxiety.
Partnering with God in life.
…and many related topics.
Brant always seeks to speak with humor and humility, and the atmosphere of the conference will be about fun and fellowship. We’ll also enjoy singing together, and may be joined by some surprise guest artists and speakers.
You’ll also have the opportunity, in between sessions, to explore Grace College’s beautiful campus and—get this—take part in the invention of an entirely new sport! Brant has just invented DanceBall: It’s kickball, with a live DJ. You have to dance around the bases. If you don’t want to play, it promises to be highly amusing to watch.
WHY SHOULD I COME?
Brant refers to this as an “The Un-conference”. There’s not going to be any veneer; no attempts to impress. Instead, the goal is to leave you inspired to live differently. Jesus’ way is better, and we are inviting to you pursue that way. His way is “good news” for you, and when we follow it, it’s good news, too, for the people around us.
